Role description: Arcadis is seeking a talented Senior Project Manager, Transportation Engineering for our dynamic Waterloo office. We are looking for a senior project manager with a background in road and transit projects in Ontario. Experience in some or all of Environmental Assessments, preliminary design, detailed design, transportation planning, traffic management, and traffic engineering would be an asset.
This role will utilize skills in leadership, business development, and client interaction. As a Senior Project Manager, you will help grow and maintain the business. Role accountabilities: In this role you will serve as a Senior Project Manager, leading transportation-infrastructure projects such as Class Environmental Assessments, Transit Project Assessment Processes (TPAP), preliminary and detailed design assignments, as well as intersection and corridor improvement studies. You will take ownership as the Transportation Engineering task lead on large-scale projects, providing senior oversight on the review of preliminary and detailed design drawings, supporting and reviewing the development of Environmental Study Reports, traffic studies, technical reports, and spearheading proposal preparation.
In this role you will also be responsible for managing and optimizing staff productivity and utilization, providing mentorship to project teams, and supervising personnel to ensure high-quality project delivery. You will foster a culture of enthusiasm and client focus, take a leadership role in client liaison, and drive business development initiatives across Waterloo, Kitchener, Cambridge, and the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA).
In this role you will coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring effective management of project schedules and budgets, and provide strategic input into the management of the Transportation Group in the Waterloo office. As a senior leader, you will play a key role in advancing the group’s expertise and reputation, supporting the growth of our business, and delivering innovative transportation solutions for our clients.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s University Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
- 5+ years of Project Management experience and 8+ years of Transportation Engineering experience
- Experience in roadway preliminary or detailed design
- P.Eng. (Eligible for Membership with PEO) preferred
- Experience with local and regional authorities such as the Region of Waterloo, City of Kitchener, City of Cambridge, City of Waterloo, MTO, and adjacent regions (e.g., Halton, Peel, York, Durham) is an asset
- Experience with preliminary and detailed design of intersections, arterial roads, highways, and freeways (alignments, geometrics, staging, traffic management, roadside safety)
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, InRoads, and Civil3D is an asset
- Understanding of traffic engineering principles
- Familiarity with Waterloo Region and/or GTHA market conditions, public and private sector client base in and around Waterloo/GTHA
- Experience with contract administration, construction inspection, and preparation of reports

The salary range for this position is $112,000 - $162,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
