Registered Nurse- Recovery Room- Part Time
About the role
PURPOSE:
The recovery room nurse closely monitors and cares for patients immediately after surgery as they recover from anesthesia, ensuring their stability by managing pain, checking vital signs, and addressing any complications that may arise during the post-operative period.
DUTIES:

Participates and collaborates with other health care providers in provision of patient care.

Effectively uses the Standards of Nursing Practice and the Nursing Process in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating
the care of the patient.

Provides health teaching to patients and family.

Provides assistance in planning corrective actions to ensure safety for patients and staff. Is compliant with legislation, organizational and departmental, regulations, standards and procedures related to occupational health and safety**.**
QUALIFICATIONS;
- Certificate of competency in Ontario.
- Demonstrated competencies related to IV Therapy
- Willingness to obtain ACLS (within 6 months)
EXPERIENCE:
- Knowledge and skill in surgical specialities including; Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Urology, ENT
and Oral Surgery.
- Minimum 1 year in a Peri anaesthesia setting
SKILLS:
- Critical thinking and organizational skills.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office software
- Demonstrated clinical competency in the management of care of patients post anesthetic.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing education within the past two (2) years with emphasis placed on courses/conferences related to Peri Anesthesia Nursing.
- Knowledge of National Association of Peri Anesthetic Nurses of Canada (NAPANc) Standards.
ABILITY:
- Ability to maintain successful working relationships; ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible and reassuring manner, both in person and on the telephone; tact, courtesy and alertness in public contacts.
- Behaviour consistent with Hospital Mission, Values and Standards of Performance.
Note: Because of the changing nature of the work and work to be done, other responsibilities and duties may be assigned and qualifications may be adjusted from time to time. Only those selected for testing/interview will be contacted.

Sault Area Hospital (SAH) is a state-of-the-art facility that opened on March 6, 2011. SAH provides primary, secondary and select tertiary services to a total catchment population of approximately 115,000 residents in Sault Ste. Marie and the District of Algoma.
