What you will be doing:
The Junior Estimator Co-op will assist the Estimating Team in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects. This role involves learning from senior estimators, participating in site visits, and developing strong relationships with trades, subcontractors, and suppliers.
This posting is for an existing vacancy within our organization.
- Preparing estimates of probable costs for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracts based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings, and specifications.
- Completing full quantity take-offs for all aspects of each new project as per contract specifications.
- Advising on tendering procedures, examine, and analyze tenders and recommend tender awards.
- Conducting financial assessments of contract variations.
- Preparing and maintaining a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Ensuring accurate and high-quality record keeping.
- Cost value procurement of materials, equipment and labour and current market value assessment.
- Maintaining good relationships and create new ones with trades, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Liaising consulting and communicating with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors, and prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
- Other duties, as required.
What you will bring:
- Must be currently enrolled in a Post- Secondary institution with a focus in Construction Management, or relevant.
- Strong and effective communication, writing, and computer skills are essential
- Ability to work with a sense of urgency.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong initiative and ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in MS Office programs and Bluebeam.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD architecture and Revit is beneficial but not required.
- Ability to understand engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and construction practices and apply this knowledge efficiently in day-to-day tasks.
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced construction environment.
- A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle would be beneficial.

Pay Transparency:
Hourly wage: $20.00- $28.50 per hour, based on previous co-op terms completed and relevant experience.
