Position Summary The Quality Technician collaborates cross-functionally with Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Production, R&D, and the Repair Centre to support both new product introductions and the sustainment of existing products. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining quality deliverables such as PPAP, First Article Inspections (FAIs), and Incoming Quality Control (IQC) plans. For existing products, the role supports the management of non-conformances, SCARs, Quality Alerts, MRB processes, and internal/external audits. The Quality Technician also assists the Quality Engineer with root cause investigations and other engineering activities as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities To Include (but Not Limited To)

Assist in the management of NCRs, Internal/External QA Alerts, and SCARs.

Lead MRB meetings with stakeholders, ensure timely disposition of non-conforming material, and maintain accurate documentation.

Manage and support the Layered Process Audit (LPA) program, including:

Performing audits, documenting audit findings accurately and ensuring that corrective actions are assigned promptly and closed within deadlines.
-
Preparing and updating LPA checklists/questions based on process requirements.
-
Monitoring audit execution by other stakeholders and providing necessary assistance.
-
Reporting audit compliance status and escalation where required.
-
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement based on audit results.
-
Plan and maintain the inspection schedule, aligning with requests from R&D, Supply Chain, NPI timelines, or non-conformance investigations.
-
Utilize various test and measurement equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMM, 3D scanner) to verify product quality and document results accurately.
-
Support evaluation of statistical methods, analyze key process data, and help develop strategies to reduce variation and sustain process control. Prepare clear quality performance reports for stakeholders.

Train production staff on processes and quality standards; serve as the main quality contact on the production floor.

Assist in Root cause analysis. Ensure corrective actions are implemented and verified.

Support quality deliverables during New Product Introduction (NPI), including:

Conducting FAI on Make to Spec (MTS) components.

Planning IQC inspections.
-
Managing and updating PFMEA.
-
Ensuring suppliers submit all required PPAP documentation prior to full production approval and request PPAP updates throughout the product lifecycle.
Position Requirements
- Hands-on experience with inspection equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMM, 3D Scanner).
- Proven experience with quality core tools: MSA, FMEA, PPAP, APQP, SPC.
- Proficient in GD&T with the ability to read and interpret component engineering drawings.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in industries with stringent quality and compliance requirements, such as automotive, pharmaceuticals, Defense manufacturing, aerospace or nuclear.
- Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems, ISO9001 and quality control processes such as NCRs, SCARs, RCA, corrective / preventive actions, audits.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- High level of integrity and a passion for quality excellence and continuous improvement.
- Committed to continuous learning and professional development.
- Preference will be given to applicants with experience in electronics manufacturing.
- Strong preference will be given to applicants willing to relocate to Saskatoon.
