###Overview

The Ktunaxa Nation Council has an opportunity forʔa·knusti Coordinatorin Cranbrook BC. Reporting to the Manager, IMBA & ʔa·knusti, this position is the main contact responsible for coordinating and organizing multiple competing demands for the ʔa·knusti Team’s time and expertise, applying strong organizational and administrative skills to help administer the program within the Traditional Knowledge and Language Sector, and contributes to further development and coordination of the ʔa·knusti Guardian Program. This includes finding and writing grant proposals, coordinating travel within and outside of ʔamakʔis Ktunaxa for the team, ensuring that their training requirements are upheld and up to date, and leading safety measures for the team and the rest of the Traditional Knowledge & Language sector.

This is a full-time permanent position with full benefits. Salary Range: $66,033 - $72,619

###Responsibilities

  • Seeking grant opportunities to support further program development, writing grant proposals, maintaining contractual requirements and reporting on expenditures related to grant contracts as required.
  • Use KNC systems to support the coordination of fieldwork, including staff scheduling, expense tracking, safety forms and equipment tracking. Identify efficiencies and propose procedural changes through appropriate channels.
  • Monitor and support technicians with time tracking for accurate and timely invoicing
  • With guidance from the IMBA Manager, communicate process requirements related to fieldwork
  • Track urgency/importance of data collection requests for decision making by the Manager and/or Director
  • Communicate upcoming work and status of work with Manager and Technicians
  • Verify work conducted to assist in authorizing invoices:

o Ensure field staff are reporting project-related hours, per diems, mileage and any other project related expenses in the tracking form

o Code vehicle gas slips to appropriate projects when using KNC vehicles

o Ensure verified invoices from purchases are returned to the appropriate individuals when purchases are made

  • At the direction of the Manager/Director:

o monitor related budgets

o create cost estimates for fieldwork from appropriate templates

o manage project expenses

o liaise with the Sector Business and Contracts Coordinator

  • Manage field equipment in collaboration with the Safety Coordinator and the Lands Operations Team
  • Support field safety needs to assure compliance based on KNC Safety Program
  • Document processes, policies and procedures
  • Some fieldwork/site visits to support ʔaknusti technicians

###Qualifications

  • Grade 12 diploma plus specialized training equivalent to 2 years full time post-secondary studies.
  • Education related to business administration an asset.
  • 3-5 years experience in an administrative capacity with demonstrated skills in organization, prioritization and system management
  • Strong knowledge of the Ktunaxa Nation, ʔamakʔis Ktunaxa and Ktunaxa values
  • Understands Ktunaxa Stewardship principles and standards
  • Strong information management skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including Word, Excel, and email
  • Experience working with Indigenous peoples and governments
  • Ability to collaborate with others
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with and commitment to information management
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work under supervision and also to work independently when required to do so

This is an in-person position working primarily from the Cranbrook office.
