HALL MONITOR
About the role
There is a position available for a Hall Monitor at North Peace Secondary School. Applications must be completed online and will be accepted until noon, June 25, 2026.
Reporting to the site Administrative Officer(s), this position is responsible for monitoring and reporting student behaviour/activities inside the school building and on the school grounds throughout the day while ensuring student safety and conformance to standards of acceptable behaviour.
Hours of work: (7.0) hrs. per day, five (5) days per week
Duties to Commence: September 8, 2026
Work Year Base: Ten (10) months per year
Commencing Salary**:** $25.58/hr.
Duties:
- Monitors behaviour/activities of students in empty classrooms, hallways and on the school grounds. Students are informed of unacceptable behaviour and directed to correct it. Safety concerns and serious student behaviour infractions are immediately reported to the site Administrative Officer(s).
- Directs students to designated areas.
- Maintains a high visibility by frequent circulation throughout the building and grounds.
- Supervises and assists with the cleanup of spills.
- Directs student's absence from class without permission to class and non-compliant students to the office of the site Administrative Officer(s), or designate.
- Provides information to the site Administrative Officer(s), or designate, on incidents and completes accident reports where applicable.
- Supervises the use of athletic equipment as identified by the site Administrative Officer(s), or designate.
- Directs non-students to report to the office area and informs the site Administrative Officer(s) immediately of any who do not comply.
- Administers minor emergency first aid until medical assistance arrives.
- Performs other job related duties as directed by site Administrative Officer(s).
Qualifications and Attributes:
- Grade 10 or equivalency
- 2 years of training and/or experience working with school age children
- Ability to work independently and set priorities
- WHMIS Certificate and other online safety training provided by the District to be completed within the probationary period
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to be an integral part of a team
- Must be able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search conducted by the District prior to starting employment
