Financial Analyst 3

Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Hybrid
Annual salary: $ 95,100.00 - 102,500.00
What you'll do
- Conducts and/or leads complex and/or major financial evaluations, studies and forecasts with significant and long term
impacts and/or political sensitivities involving new business activities, emerging financial and strategic issues etc.; analyzes
and assesses business and financial risks, opportunities and requirements; develops and presents recommendations;
develops related financial and/or business solutions or program/project proposals, budgets, business cases, and/or
proposed feasibility studies and/or pilots for assigned studies and projects.
- Prepares, presents and acts as an expert advocate for financial and business solutions to senior management, working
groups or committees; explains recommendations and guides clients to adopt the most prudent and efficient financial and
business solution(s); analyzes and reviews client submissions for accuracy, completeness and compliance with Business
Group and corporate policies and procedures; acts as a subject matter expert and/or acts as a primary work contact to BC
Hydro's external auditors.
- Develops, evaluates, implements and tests complex and/or major new or revised financial policies, procedures, processes
and systems. Initiates continuous improvement to business processes and systems.
- Monitors and provides project leadership throughout the development and implementation phases of approved projects to
assigned project staff and/or consultants; intervenes and follows up to correct implementation problems; monitors, controls
and expedites project timing and targets; reviews and approves contractor and other project invoices prior to managerial
sign off.
- Develops and applies advanced evaluation, statistical and financial analytical processes, methodologies, models and tools
for own and other financial studies undertaken by lower level Financial Analysts; applies statistical models; analyzes,
develops, prepares or evaluates financial forecasts, summary conclusions, reasons and explanations for differences
between forecasted and actual results; prepares recommendations and supporting data, tables etc.; develops and
implements methods and techniques to improve forecasting and financial evaluations and analyses.
- May perform some or all of the same duties as the Financial Analyst 1 & 2. Provides technical direction, advice and/or
training to management and lower level financial accounting employees and project team members; may be required to
provide work leadership over assigned staff; may be required to provide training and support to non-financial managers on
the financial system.
- Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties that do not affect the rating of the job.
What you bring

Professional accounting designation (CPA) required.

Five (5) years of experience in progressively more responsible financial and business accounting roles, including two (2)
years as a Financial Analyst 2 or in an equivalent role.

This is for 1 full-time permanent (FTR) MoveUP Group 12 opportunity, based in our Dunsmuir office.

This position is responsible for duties such as: preparing monthly financial KBU reporting including variance analysis;
processing monthly JVs and accruals; running ad hoc reports; answering client expense policy questions; preparing annual
budgets; and identifying issues and recommending solutions.

Well developed written, oral and interpersonal communication skills is strongly desired.

Experience performing financial analysis is desired. This position requires strong analytical skills to develop advanced
reporting and provide meaningful insights through detailed analysis and data analytics tools (e.g., PivotTables, Power
Query and Power BI).
- Knowledge and proficiency in the use of SAP S4/HANA system including BI reporting for data analysis and financial
reporting would be beneficial.

Knowledge and proficiency with regards to policies, procedures, systems, budgeting and forecasting would be beneficial.

A technical assessment will be required as part of the selection process.

- Standard BC Hydro office environment with occasional travel to attend meetings. May require occasional overnight travel
