Are you an experienced Automation Engineer who enjoys getting hands-on with complex control systems? Would you like to play a key role in improving the safety, reliability, and performance of a highly automated manufacturing facility?
The role
We are working with a manufacturing company that is looking for a Senior Automation Engineer to join its team in Niagara Falls.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, improving plant performance, and seeing technical projects through from the initial idea to successful startup.
You will support and improve automation systems across both batch and continuous manufacturing processes. Working closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering, you will help keep the facility running safely, efficiently, and reliably.
The role offers a good balance of day-to-day technical support, long-term improvement work, and full project involvement.
Key Responsibilities
Support, maintain, and optimize distributed control systems across plant operations Design and improve automation strategies for batch and continuous processes Develop and update automation logic, control sequences, and process recipes Troubleshoot complex automation, instrumentation, and communication issues Manage automation projects from concept and design through testing, commissioning, and startup Support process historian systems and manufacturing data integration Identify practical improvements to safety, quality, reliability, and productivity Work closely with plant teams to deliver effective, long-term technical solutions

The person
You will need a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
You should also have
At least five years of automation and process control experience Experience within chemical, specialty chemical, or similar continuous manufacturing Hands-on distributed control system experience, ideally Emerson DeltaV Experience supporting both batch and continuous operations Knowledge of ISA S88 Batch Standards, instrumentation, and control systems Professional Engineer designation in Ontario, or eligibility to register Experience with OSI PI, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, motor controls, variable frequency drives, and process instrumentation would be highly valued. Applicants must be Canadian citizens or have full authorization to work in Canada.
