CBC, Canada’s National media company is looking for a Digital Strategist, Marketing Automation to grow and improve our Marketing Automation System .
This role reports to the Director, Customer Experience, and will be part of a 200+ employee team responsible for building and driving performance across a suite of digital media products including: cbc.ca, CBC News app, CBC Gem and CBC Listen. Every month, CBC reaches over 17 million people in Canada through our ecosystem. Your passion for purpose will make you a critical contributor in bringing our product vision to life; To make it effortless for all people in Canada to tell and discover the stories that connect us.
We're building an agile team to dramatically accelerate our marketing automation capabilities, with the ambitious goal of scaling our reach to million users within a year. This initiative is all about creating a robust, always-on direct communication system that can handle both one-to-many and one-to-one interactions, ultimately delivering more relevant content to our audiences and deepening their engagement.
As our Strategist, you'll be a key driver in shaping and executing this vital marketing automation vision. You'll collaborate closely with a cross-functional team, strategically leveraging existing systems and integrating new technologies to deliver highly personalized and impactful digital experiences. This role is crucial for enhancing our digital agility and capacity to connect with new and existing audiences.

How you will make an impact:
- Set and Manage a Strategic Roadmap that defines the opportunities for marketing automation in a 1 year timespan, including journey mapping, audience segmentation, and content personalization.
- Evaluate and improve existing processes and workflows to streamline existing operations and improve time to market.
- Lead Agile Campaign Conceptualization and Execution, designing and iterating on multi-channel (Email, Push, In-Product, Display, Video ads) marketing automation campaigns such as behavioral drip campaigns, customized news alerts, and personalized content recommendations.
- Drive Predictive Analytics Integration, collaborating with data scientists and engineers for audience data analysis, predicting preferences and behaviors to enable more targeted and relevant communications.
- Define and Analyze KPIs, continuously monitoring campaign performance, analyzing data, and iterating strategies to optimize engagement, conversion, and retention.
- Contribute to Knowledge Transfer, helping to train existing CBC and Radio-Canada employees on how to maintain the systems, ensuring long-term sustainability and internal ownership of marketing automation initiatives.
- Collaborate across internal and external teams (e.g., product, data, marketing, and external vendors) to align on strategic priorities and ensure successful implementation of marketing automation initiatives.
- Champion Dynamic Content Optimization, leveraging Gen AI for real-time content optimization based on user interactions and context, ensuring strict adherence to data privacy and compliance.
What you bring to our team:
- 3+ years of proven experience as a Marketing Automation Strategist, or similar role with a strong focus on large-scale marketing automation initiatives.
- Must have prior experience with CDP (e.g., Segment, Tealium, Salesforce Data Cloud, or Blueconic) and a strong grasp of data flow and integration principles.
- Deep understanding of customer journey mapping, segmentation, personalization, and A/B testing best practices.
- Experience with or a strong interest in predictive analytics and dynamic content optimization.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
- Ability to assess current processes and design efficient new ones. Experience issuing statements of work.
- Experience working in an agile environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication skills to provide context to team members at different levels of technical and business acumen.
- Comfort working in ambiguity and within a highly matrixed organization.
- Leads with influence instead of authority.
- Experience in the media, journalism, or entertainment industries is a bonus but not required.
