ABOUT THE POSITION
Manager, Due Diligence

Salary: $87,147.75 - $117,275.29 *The salary for this position is currently under review as part of AGLC’s broader Non‑Union Compensation review, which is intended to support alignment with market practices. Compensation details for this role may be adjusted following completion of the review.

JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Senior Manager of the Due Diligence Unit, the Manager is responsible for ensuring the integrity of gaming and cannabis in Alberta. This position will assist the Senior Manager with overseeing a Unit comprised of Investigators, Financial Investigators and Administrative Assistants and will manage confidential due diligence investigations as per Section 9 and 9.1 of the Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Regulation (GLCR) on companies, individuals, key employees and/or associates as part of licensing/registration in the gaming, cannabis and liquor industries.
The Manager, Due Diligence will be responsible for:
- Supervising and providing direction to Investigators/Financial Investigators on due diligence investigations.
- Reviewing information collected and assessed by the Due Diligence Investigators/Financial Investigators prior to being submitted to the Senior Manager for recommendations on licenses/registrations/approvals/findings of suitability.
- Reviewing Request for Decisions to ensure accuracy, consistency and clarity of information prior to being submitted to the Senior Manager for recommendations to the AGLC Board or CEO for licensing decisions.
- Providing guidance and advice to Due Diligence Investigators/Financial Investigators on imposing regulatory sanctions based upon due diligence findings.
- Assisting the Senior Manager to regularly review and update due diligence policies, procedures and templates.
- Providing high quality service to internal clients and industry partners through education on due diligence processes.
- Liaising with other regulatory agencies, law enforcement and other jurisdictions.
- Representing the Due Diligence Unit on various committees.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- University degree in a relevant field
- 4 years of financial or non‑financial investigative experience within an accredited police service, regulatory agency, or professional services organization.
- Preference for candidates holding one or more recognized professional designations such as CFE, CFI, CPA, or CAMS.
- Demonstrated experience leading professional teams in complex, high‑volume environments, including supervising employees, providing constructive performance feedback, managing workload distribution, and supporting employee learning, growth, and development
- Strong critical thinking, conceptual reasoning, and problem‑solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Proven ability to build and maintain respectful working relationships, including working effectively with First Nations communities, such as Chief and Council.
- High level of organizational skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities, environments, and organizational needs.
