We are currently seeking a Project Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Controller, this role plays a vital part in ensuring the financial health and accountability of our projects across the organization.

The Project Accountant is responsible for overseeing project budgets, tracking financial performance, managing invoicing and payments, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and contract terms. This role works closely with Project Managers and other cross-functional teams to deliver timely, accurate financial data that supports strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Budgeting and Cost Control: Develop, monitor, and manage project budgets, ensuring compliance and identifying variances between actual costs and planned expenses.
  • Financial Tracking and Reporting: Maintain accurate financial records for projects.
  • Invoicing and Payments: Review and process accounting documents and manage payments to ensure accuracy and compliance with contract terms.
  • Compliance and Contract Management: Ensure projects adhere to financial regulations, contractual terms, and legal requirements.
  • Liaison and Collaboration: Act as a key point of contact, collaborating closely with project managers, operational teams, and other stakeholders to provide financial information and support.
  • Analysis and Problem-Solving: Conduct financial analysis to identify issues, investigate variances, and develop solutions to manage costs and improve profitability.

Required Skills:

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to scrutinize financial details, evaluate variances, and predict financial outcomes.
  • Communication Skills: Effectively convey financial information to both non-finance and finance professionals.
  • Attention to Detail: Precision in tracking financial data and identifying errors or discrepancies to prevent escalation.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify financial issues within a project and develop effective, cost-efficient solutions.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with accounting software, financial systems, and data analysis tools is crucial.

Qualifications:

  • 2 years of accounting experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation or working towards it is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software; proficiency in NetSuite is an asset.
