About the role
As an Expeditor, you are responsible for monitoring deliveries with suppliers to confirm scheduled dates for all types of deliverables, including products and documentation. The role may involve negotiating new agreements when needed, while ensuring production timelines are met. Responsibilities also include overseeing shipments, maintaining accurate records in procurement systems, working collaboratively with internal teams, and resolving delivery issues. The role also requires active involvement in supporting Davie’s health, safety, and environmental (HSE) practices.
More specifically, you will:
- Raise awareness among all stakeholders (employees, clients, suppliers, etc.) about the importance of Davie’s HSE culture and support its integration into daily operations.
- Lead by example in HSE matters and provide clear guidance, information, training, and supervision to ensure tasks are carried out safely.
- Respond promptly to HSE-related issues, including policy breaches or non-compliance, and report them to the HSE team without delay.
- Ensure Davie’s environmental standards are upheld across all construction and repair projects.
- Review delivery dates using procurement tools and confirm alignment with project requirements.
- Communicate with suppliers to confirm delivery timelines and request expedited shipping when delays occur.
- Enter urgent order details into the appropriate systems.
- Check material availability using documentation and notify relevant parties to plan its movement.
- Coordinate shipments with suppliers or carriers and track them through to receipt.
- Respond to internal follow-up requests from various departments and conduct necessary research to provide timely answers.
- Investigate missing deliveries and obtain relevant details from carriers.
- Notify buyers of overdue orders, delays, or changes reported by suppliers so that amendments can be issued.
- Perform any other related duties as requested by the immediate supervisor.
Qualifications
- College diploma or relevant training in procurement.
- Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in expediting or a similar role.
- Familiarity with procurement software and tools.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Excellent spoken and written French and English to ensure effective communication with suppliers, partners, and colleagues.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Customer service–oriented mindset.
