The District of Kent, located in the picturesque Eastern Fraser Valley, is offering an exciting opportunity in our Development Services Department for a Planner 1 or a Planner 2.

These key roles perform a variety of duties, including (but not limited to) the:

  • Co-ordination, processing, and review of subdivision and development applications.

  • Researching and presenting of departmental data.

  • Consolidating and maintaining records, maps, charts, graphs, and other material for interpretation.

  • Development of new and improved guidelines, procedures, policies, and bylaws.

  • Preparation of maps and reports varying in degree of complexity.

  • Interpretation and application of zoning and other bylaws.

  • Conducting research for subdivision and development related requests.

  • Responding to inquiries from members of the pubic, contractors, developers, and other agencies.

  • When directed, presenting reports to Council and Committees of Council.

Requirements include: Planner 1 Graduate of a two-year post-secondary diploma program in planning, geography, or related discipline combined with two years of related planning experience.

Planner 2 Degree in planning, geography, or a related discipline combined with three years of related planning experience, or a two-year post-secondary diploma program (as above) with five years of related planning experience.

The 2025 post-probationary wage rate for these CUPE Local 458 bargaining unit positions is $45.10 per hour (Planner 1) and $51.73 per hour (Planner 2) plus a comprehensive benefit package.
