Position Purpose

Responsible for completing daily inspections, monitoring and patrolling terrain park features from a safety perspective; determining appropriate maintenance; repairing jumps, rails and features as required. For full details, please see attached job description.

Minimum Qualifications

  • You must provide your own personal equipment: skis/snowboard, boots, bindings, layering clothes, eyewear, hats, gloves, snow pants and helmet etc. Jacket will be provided by the Corporation.

  • Expert or Intermediate ability to ski and/or snowboard;

  • Prior experience working as a terrain park attendant an asset;

Position Summary

Responsible for completing daily inspections, monitoring and patrolling terrain park features from a safety perspective; determining appropriate maintenance; repairing jumps, rails and features as required.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts safety inspection of terrain park prior to opening and continuously monitors the hill and features;
  • Performs required maintenance and/or reports problems with features to supervisor if further maintenance is required;
  • Provides physical assistance to guests as required;
  • Ensures skiers/snowboarders are using the park in a safe manner, politely gives verbal warnings to patrons who do not abide by the Rules of Conduct on the hill and reports unsafe acts to Supervisor;
  • Ensures that guests are using/wearing the proper gear/equipment;
  • Is aware of and is able to provide timely and accurate information concerning slope conditions, area activities and other related information intended to help the guest enjoy their stay;
  • Maintains a friendly and courteous demeanor at all times;
  • Completes documentation as required;
  • Calls for assistance in guest difficulty situations;
  • Shovels snow and continuously maintain the condition of slopes;
  • Performs other related duties that may occur in an unplanned or emergency situation;
  • Assists lift operators, ski patrollers or other staff as required;
  • Communicates and reports all incidents/hazards/issues to supervisor;
  • Participate in the Town's Health and Safety Program and follow safety practices in work methods and procedures; observes and complies with all relevant Health & Safety regulations.

Skill/Knowledge Requirements

  • Expert or Intermediate ability to ski and/or snowboard;
  • Prior experience working as a terrain park attendant an asset;
  • Ability to think quickly in an emergency;
  • Ability to interact and converse intelligently with guests and other employees;
  • Good manual and physical dexterity skills;
  • Ability to work in and withstand severe cold and adverse weather conditions;
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, communication and customer service skills;
  • Thorough working knowledge of all applicable health and safety regulations and legislation;
  • Must be prepared to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
