Summary:
As the Production Manager, your duties will lead the production team for all production related tasks including, but not limited to: satellite terminal assembly, RF component preparation for direct sale, and carrying out quality control procedures. In every aspect of your work, you must strive to practice ‘Lean’ philosophy to achieve the long term goal of continuous improvement, improve efficiency, and reduce cost according to the annual corporate objectives set forth by the company.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing and directing Production staff on scheduling, resource and technical issues pertaining to the production activities of the Company.
- Ensure a safe working environment at Norsat.
- Optimize output from the Production Team to ensure timely delivery of product according to the Build Plan.
- Ensure all quality checks are complete to minimize the possibility of defects reaching the end customer.
- Manage inventory transactions to ensure an accurate accounting of inventory (cycle, quarter, and year-end counts).
- Ensure a good accounting of inventory, spares and product through WIP.
- Report performance to Senior Management through monthly, quarterly and yearly review meetings.
- Ensure a smooth transition of product build information from Engineering to Production.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Post-graduate training in Electronics Engineering Technology. Electrical, electronic or mechanical engineering degree an asset.
- 5+ years’ experience in electronics manufacturing at the management level.
- Experience using an ERP/MRP system in a manufacturing environment, preferably Microsoft Dynamics, Business Central preferably
- Understanding of the "Lean" principles of manufacturing.
- Experience with RF electronics and understanding of related specifications.
- Ability to communicate and provide support to all departments within the company.
- Ability to work professionally with outside service providers.
- Experience in assembling, testing and manufacturing satellite or microwave products.
- Excellent MS Office computer skills - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong team player with excellent problem and conflict solving skills; resourceful and proactive.
- Commitment to product quality and delivery deadlines based on cost and time constraints.
- Able to both train and learn from others.
- Enthusiastic, energetic, positive working attitude.
- An adaptable personality to integrate with a diverse group of people and negotiator.
- Exemplary organization and time management skills; excellent multitasking ability.
