The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dynamic finance leader with deep expertise in accounting and financial reporting to oversee accounting operations, compliance, and financial analysis for a diverse portfolio of investment holding companies and large private foundations. The successful candidate will combine technical excellence with the ability to deliver insights, lead change, and strengthen finance as a trusted business partner.
This hands-on leadership role manages a team of six professionals and reports to the VP, Finance & Treasury, who will provide mentorship and exposure to increasingly strategic projects. It is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned accounting professional ready to broaden their influence and shape the evolution of the finance function.
Key Job Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Lead all aspects of accounting operations, ensuring accurate, timely financial statements and successful completion of audits.
- Monitor and interpret new accounting standards and indirect tax regulations, providing practical guidance on organizational impact.
- Strengthen internal controls, policies, and processes to ensure compliance, consistency, and efficiency.
- Ensure all regulatory, external, and internal reporting obligations are met with precision and clarity.

Financial Analysis & Planning
- Deliver high-quality and timely financial forecasts, budgets, and management reporting that support executive decision-making.
- Monitor KPIs and business trends, providing meaningful variance analysis and actionable recommendations.
- Translate complex financial data into clear insights for leadership and operational teams.

Business Partnering & Strategic Initiatives
- Partner with operations to align budgets, forecasts, and reporting with business priorities.
- Provide financial leadership on cross-functional initiatives and enterprise projects.
- Collaborate with the VP and other Finance leaders on strategic planning, capital management, and special projects.

Data, Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Drive enhancements to financial systems and reporting structures in partnership with IT and business leaders.
- Lead automation and process improvement initiatives to improve accuracy, reduce manual effort, and enable scalability.
- Challenge existing practices to ensure finance continuously evolves to meet business needs.

Leadership & People Development
- Mentor, coach, and inspire a team of accountants, fostering professional growth and high engagement.
- Build a culture of accountability, integrity, and collaboration within the finance team.
- Act as a trusted advisor and respected partner across the organization.

Other ad-hoc duties as required
Qualifications:
- CPA designation with 7–10 years of progressive finance leadership, including at least 5 years in management.
- Proven expertise in accounting operations, technical accounting, audits, and financial reporting.
- Experience overseeing FP&A, budgeting/forecasting, and indirect tax compliance.
- Strong leadership track record with demonstrated ability to develop and inspire high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; able to present complex financials with clarity.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, with a focus on delivering practical, innovative solutions.
- Skilled relationship manager with outstanding cross functional collaboration skills; known for being approachable, supportive, and respectful, while engaging effectively at all levels of the organization
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with ERP/financial systems required (Dynamics 365 considered an asset).
