About the Role:
The Child and Youth Coordinator ensures the delivery of high-quality programs and services that empower children and youth to reach their full potential. This position is responsible for the day-to-day coordination, and delivery of child and youth initiatives, fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment.
Responsibilities:
Program Development & Delivery
- Actively supervise and deliver programming to participants in alignment with the Y Way Service that Shines standards and principles of Healthy Child Development (HCD) and Positive Youth Development (PYD)
- Active supervision of programs, supervising instructors and ensuring their performance meets expectations.
- Assist supervisor in preparing and delivery in-services to staff team.
- Support with ensuring program equipment inventory is adequate.
Health, Safety and Child Protection
- Maintains a safe and supportive environment by following all YMCA Health, Safety and Child Protection and Emergency policies and procedures.
- Ensure all safety documents are completed accurately, all sign-in and out procedures for parents are followed, and staff is following head counts and maintaining ratios.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma. Post secondary education in recreation, early childhood or education is an asset or related experience is an asset.
- NCCP FMS (Fundamental Movement Skills) certification is an asset.
- Intermediate (Standard) First Aid & CPR-C.
- Able to obtain a Police Information Check and Vulnerable sector check.
- Strong computer skills with Office 365 word, excel and other applications an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
