About the role

We are hiring for this position out of our Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary offices. Successful candidates who apply outside of these areas will be expected to relocate and reside in a location that is within a commutable distance.

Peoples Group’s Payment Hub operates in a 24x7x365 environment. The role may require shift work including work on Canadian holidays and providing coverage for support activities such as testing on weekends or traditional business hours.

About the role:

You are a Specialist in Settlement and Reconciliation with knowledge of the Canadian Payment systems such as ACSS and USBE. You understand the needs of a Payments Operations team. Attention to details comes naturally to you; you can demonstrate the ability to perform delegated tasks; and review work performed by other team members with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency. You are a curious and analytical individual who enjoys solving problems and working as part of an empowered and high performing team.

About the day-to-day:

  • Clear and Settle transactions under ACSS.
  • Monitor and Reconciliation the day-to-day transactions and activities for irregularities.
  • Investigations, problem solving, follow-ups, manage deadlines, provide support.
  • Reporting that requires the use of various systems.
  • Monitor the work of other team members and provide training and advice where needed.
  • Monitor, review and reconcile the daily exchange, clearing and settlement reports generated by ACSS, USBE as well as other Payment's platform using automated and manual processes.
  • Create funding and settlement requests using various platforms.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve client reconciliation issues.
  • Analyze the causes for recurring reconciling errors, liaise with internal and external stakeholders to recommend mitigating solutions and drive continuous improvements for a more efficient financial process.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, including technologists to understand client requirements, identify system gaps and enable onboarding from a settlement and reconciliation perspective.
  • Prepare daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for the Peoples Payment Hub.

About the qualifications:

  • You have 3+ years of experience with reconciliation, resolving unmatched items and payment related investigations.
  • You have experience in a payments role at a Bank or Clearing Central.
  • You have a strong understanding of the lifecycle of incoming and outgoing AFT.
  • You can demonstrate advanced proficiency in accounting principles and practices involving financial record keeping, journal entry preparation, account analysis and reconciliation.
  • You love extracting large volume of data from core banking system, data warehouse, achieves etc.
  • You have experience analyzing bank statements and money movements.
  • You have experience in creating and approving money transfers and wires.
  • You have strong communication skills and are able to build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • You are curious by nature, are comfortable challenging the status quo and can shift gears up and down in a fast-paced environment.
  • You are an advocate for using technology to remove process barriers.
  • You love navigating large volumes of data to provide business intelligence and you are proficient in Microsoft Suite.
  • You are an analytical problem solver who can communicate across various levels of the organization.
  • You bring advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel to efficiently analyze and illustrate large volumes of data.
  • You are able to build credibility as a SME in the Payments field.

About the work environment:

Peoples Group offers a flexible and hybrid work environment. In this role you will work a combination of in-office and remotely from home. Typically, you'll be working regular business hours, Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm with flexibility around start/end times.

Hiring process:

Compensation:

The expected salary for this role is approximately $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 annually. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
