Job Summary
The Key Account Manager (KAM) is responsible for developing and growing strategic customer relationships within a designated geographic territory while achieving sales and business objectives. The KAM serves as the primary point of contact for assigned pharma& accounts, partnering with healthcare providers, health systems, specialty pharmacies, and key stakeholders to improve patient access and optimize account performance.
This role combines strategic account management, business planning, and sales execution to drive growth across key accounts. The KAM represents pharma&'s products and approved indications by providing compliant clinical education, product information, and disease state resources. Working collaboratively with internal cross-functional teams, the KAM identifies opportunities to improve patient access, strengthen customer relationships, and execute account strategies that support pharma&'s commercial objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key accounts to achieve territory sales goals and long-term business objectives.
- Develop and execute territory and account business plans to maximize growth opportunities.
- Analyze territory performance, business trends, and customer insights to identify opportunities and drive business results.
- Develop a strong understanding of the healthcare landscape, including reimbursement, specialty pharmacy, payer dynamics, and patient access.
- Demonstrate knowledge of clinical pathways and treatment trends within assigned accounts.
- Partner with Medical Affairs, Market Access, and other cross-functional teams to develop and execute account strategies.
- Represent pharma&'s products by delivering compliant product, disease state, and clinical education to healthcare professionals and key stakeholders.
- Drive product adoption and account growth through effective account management and customer engagement.
- Identify barriers to patient access and collaborate with internal partners to develop solutions.
- Maintain accurate customer records, call activity, territory plans, and sales reporting in company systems.
- Stay current on industry trends, competitive products, payer changes, and market dynamics.
- Conduct all business activities in compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and applicable laws.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated success in pharmaceutical or biotechnology account management and sales.
- Strong understanding of specialty pharmacy, reimbursement, and the healthcare delivery system.
- Proven ability to develop strategic account plans and execute against business objectives.
- Excellent relationship-building, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze data and identify growth opportunities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate complex clinical information in a clear and compliant manner.
- Proficient with CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, life sciences, healthcare, or a related field.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology sales experience.
- Experience managing specialty pharmaceutical products, preferably within oncology.
- Experience working with health systems, academic centers, community oncology practices, specialty pharmacies, and GPOs preferred.
- Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales objectives.
Education and Experience
- Must reside within the assigned territory.
- Field-based position with up to 50% travel.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel by automobile and air, as required.
