The Opportunity
The HR Coordinator will be responsible for support and guidance on a wide range of HR matters across Park Hospitality. Using a consultative approach, the Coordinator, People & Culture will partner with the various business units in workforce planning, recruitment, interviewing and onboarding, employee relations, training, workplace investigations, performance management, policy interpretation and implementation, discipline, and terminations. This position will support the design, development and delivery of tailored People & Culture solutions to the business units’ needs.
The Coordinator, People & Culture will report to the Manager, People & Culture. The Coordinator will administer daily human resources functions while managing confidential information to support legislative compliance and effective delivery of these human resources functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Administration
- Maintain the accuracy of our HRIS including data entry and verification of employee data.
- Extract, interpret/analyze and manipulate data for department usage as well as internal client usage.
- Create and execute reports on a wide range of complex and confidential data to aid our management and leadership in effective operational decision-making.
- Troubleshoot problems to determine root cause where possible, documenting effectively and escalating appropriately.
- Assist People & Culture team with various administration duties including maintaining employee files.
- Update our internal policies and/or procedures on a regular basis.
Recruitment & Selection
- Develop and distribute job postings and update position profiles as required.
- Manage and maintain applicant-tracking database.
- Assist with applicant screening, coordinating and facilitating interviews and reference checking.
- Coordinate administration requirements for new and existing employees including applicable employment documents, onboarding/orientation programs and training.
- Develop, prepare and report on staffing metrics.
Employee Relations
- Support a client group of hourly and salaried employees.
- Research and respond to general employee and manager questions on policies and processes; escalate issues as indicated to the appropriate individual for resolution.
- Provide day-to-day employee relations and performance counseling. Assure fair and consistent application of all human resources policies and practices. Resolve any employee concerns. Investigate employee related issues and/or concerns when necessary.
- Maintains compliance with federal and provincial regulations concerning employment or any other HR related policies and procedures.
- Partner with the business to achieve its objectives by identifying human resources issues and by supporting the analysis and diagnosis of client needs;
- Coordinate and support an effective performance management process including management of all related documents; receipt of performance management documents on a timely basis and follow up with Park Hospitality departments and business units regarding outstanding documents.
- Assist with data collection, research and reporting to ensure effective employee/labour relations.
General Duties
- Adhere and comply with all Park Hospitality & Compass Group Canada policies, safety regulations and safe work practices that will ensure a safe work environment.
- Maintain a professional image while working and provide extraordinary experiences to our park visitors while performing daily work activities.
- Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain positive and inclusive relationships with co-workers, volunteers, and visitors.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the principles of equity and diversity, and proven ability to work effectively with a diverse population.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
- College Diploma or a Bachelor Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- Must possess a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License.
- A CPHR designation would be considered an asset.
- A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in HR.
- Excellent proficiency with computer programs including Microsoft Office software and a demonstrated aptitude for quickly learning new software programs.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of employment laws, regulatory environments and HR best practices.
- Proven facilitation and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated relationship management experience, working with all levels within an organization.
