We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Planner to ensure all required materials, tools, and resources are available to minimize downtime, support food safety and regulatory compliance, and improve equipment reliability across the plant.
This role requires a strong understanding of maintenance operations, ideally within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment, and the ability to plan, coordinate, and execute maintenance activities efficiently and safely.
General:
Reporting to the Engineering & Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Planner plays a key role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of maintenance operations. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and scheduling maintenance activities; managing spare parts inventory; and supporting the continuous improvement of maintenance programs and systems.
To be successful in this role, you will need strong technical knowledge of maintenance operations, exceptional organizational and communication skills, and the ability to plan and prioritize effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Planning, coordinating, and scheduling preventive and corrective maintenance activities using the CMMS, including preparation of weekly and monthly maintenance schedules.
- Developing detailed work packages for major repairs, rebuilds, and projects (including parts lists, manuals, and safety documentation).
- Prioritizing work orders and allocating resources to support the timely completion of maintenance work.
- Managing spare parts inventory to ensure critical spares are available without under- or over-stocking.
- Conducting regular inventory cycle counts and maintaining accurate vendor and part information in the CMMS.
- Researching, sourcing, quoting, and ordering cost-effective materials, parts, and services from approved vendors.
- Creating and tracking purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and accurate invoicing.
- Administering and updating the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Coordinating contractor activities, including safety orientations, WorkSafeBC verification, and required permits.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance and purchasing records, and generating reports on key KPIs such as PM completion, backlog, and downtime causes.

Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field (asset).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance planning or coordination within a manufacturing environment (preferably food or meat processing).
- Experience using a CMMS (e.g., Fiix, SAP, eMaint, or similar).
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and utility systems.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other common business software.
- Knowledge of reliability-centred maintenance (RCM) and lean manufacturing principles is an asset.

- Salary starting from $75,000 and up, depending on the successful candidate’s experience, skills, and knowledge..
- Annual bonus: based on company financial/operational results, and achievement of personal KPOs.
- Vacation: 15 paid vacation days per year.
