About the role

Position Summary:

South Country Co-op is seeking a friendly and customer-focused Produce Clerk to join our team at the 13th Ave Food Store in Medicine Hat, AB. If you’re passionate about providing exceptional customer experiences, we’d love to hear from you!

Reporting to the Produce Manager, the Produce Clerk is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while ensuring fresh, high-quality produce is consistently available, attractively displayed, and safely handled. This role also includes preparing value-added items, stocking inventory, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization in the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide friendly, helpful service to all customers
  • Order, receive, and stock fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Rotate and merchandise produce displays to ensure freshness and visual appeal
  • Prepare and package value-added produce items
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and company procedures
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Deliver excellent customer service by assisting customers, promoting merchandise, and ensure customer needs, preferences, and expectations are met
  • Educate customers on the benefits of membership in South Country Co-op
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 15 years of age and completed Grade 9
  • Previous produce or retail experience is an asset
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education/experience preferred
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 75 lbs frequently
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • High level of integrity and strong work ethic
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and contribute to a team environment
  • Adaptable and quick to respond to changing demands

Work Schedule:

This position requires full availability, including days, evenings, and weekends.
