The Senior Manager, Data Architecture & Engineering is the lead for the FCU Data & Analytics integrated data architecture, engineering and technology, multiyear development and ongoing enhancement of the platform and FCU data hub. Oversees the development of methods, practices, policies, tools and processes to collect, store, access and use data securely, efficiently, and cost-effectively. Supports the full lifecycle of data assets. Assures the quality of data collection, including the adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of the data. Identifies ways to manage data across a diverse but unified data tier. Plans and supports the implementation of cloud data management platforms and tools, policies and procedures giving the organization control of business data, both in cloud applications and hybrid cloud/ on-premise set-ups. Manages data integration applying relevant data governance and management practices. Develops & maintains taxonomy & metadata and a comprehensive framework for Data Quality, Data Lineage and Data Catalogue and Metadata for FCU.
- Engineering for consumption ready data to enable integrated analytics & insights generation
- Develops Data Architecture to streamline data collection & integration for operations & analytics
- Leads interactions within FCU for emerging threats, current challenges and future analytical needs for Cyber & Physical Security
- Builds and leads change management and delivery of FCU data & analytics technology capabilities to support robust, transparent, and timely insights across all FCU pillars
- Partners across FCU to define the data & analytics technology platform and architecture roadmap including governance principles, standards, and guidelines in adherence with evolving regulatory requirements
- Analyzes, plans and defines data architecture frameworks, including security, reference data, metadata, and master data
- Defines structures, integrates, governs, stores, describes, models, and maintains data in the enterprise for accuracy and seamless usage
- Supports policies and procedures that ensure best practices of data architecture including accountability, governance, and requirements
- Creates and maintains an optimal data pipeline architecture
- Identifies, designs, and implements internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability
- Builds the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources
Managerial Leadership:
- Drives top talent acquisition and retention, developing organizational capabilities to drive competitive advantage.
- Leads and mentors a team with diverse risk and business experience, skills, and orientation.

Qualifications:

Post Secondary education in a relevant discipline (Computer Science, Data)

10+ years experience driving data pipeline management on-prem and on cloud, by setting up cutting-edge infrastructures and data engineering practices; experience building data platforms (design, architecture)

Experience with on-prem and cloud stacks, including hands on proficiency with Python and SQL, Spark, Glue, Databricks

Financial services industry expert level in data modelling, data architecture, and governance with experience and demonstrated capability to influence financial services industry trends

Industry expert level technology development and implementation with experience leading complex technology change successfully.

Expert level knowledge of architecture frameworks, methodologies, and tools.

Expert level knowledge of Data Architecture Maturity Evaluation concepts and metrics

Expert level knowledge of data privacy, data security, data management, data integration, data quality
Salary:
$94,600.00 - $176,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
