We are seeking an experienced and passionate Fishing Program Lead Guide to lead and grow our fishing program while delivering exceptional guest experiences in a remote lodge environment.

This is a hands-on leadership role combining advanced fishing expertise, guiding, program development, team leadership, and operational coordination. The successful candidate will help shape the future of the fishing program while supporting broader lodge activities and wilderness experiences.

What You’ll Do

Lead & Develop the Fishing Program

  • Develop and maintain fishing site knowledge, mapping, GPS locations, seasonal patterns, and species-specific information

  • Build and organize structured fishing experiences, including local lake and fly-out excursions

  • Establish guiding standards, procedures, and program consistency

  • Support environmental stewardship and ensure compliance with territorial fishing regulations

Lead the Guiding Team

  • Supervise and mentor fishing and guiding staff alongside the Lodge Manager

  • Support onboarding, training, scheduling, and day-to-day coordination

  • Promote a safe, professional, and collaborative team culture

  • Ensure consistent guest experience and safety standards across all excursions

Deliver Exceptional Guest Experiences

  • Lead fishing excursions and support other guided activities across the lodge

  • Conduct guest briefings, demonstrations, and safety orientations

  • Share engaging knowledge of northern ecology, geography, wildlife, and fish species

  • Adapt excursions based on weather, guest experience levels, and operational needs

  • Create memorable, personalized wilderness experiences for guests

Equipment, Safety & Operations

  • Maintain fishing equipment, boats, tackle, and excursion gear

  • Coordinate shore lunches, snacks, and excursion logistics with lodge staff

  • Lead emergency preparedness and respond to incidents as required

  • Support fly-out logistics, loading/unloading, and general lodge operations

  • Maintain communication with guides and boats during excursions

What We’re Looking For

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong freshwater fishing knowledge, particularly northern species including lake trout, northern pike, walleye, and inconnu

  • Excellent outdoor leadership and guiding abilities

  • Strong boating, navigation, and wilderness safety skills

  • Excellent communication and guest engagement skills

  • Ability to make decisions confidently in dynamic remote environments

Experience

  • Previous experience guiding fishing excursions in remote or wilderness environments preferred

  • Leadership or mentorship experience within guiding teams considered an asset

  • Experience in lodge-based or multi-activity tourism operations considered an asset

Requirements

  • Valid boating certification (Pleasure Craft Operator Card or equivalent)

  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification; Wilderness First Aid preferred

  • Ability to work in a remote fly-in lodge environment on a seasonal schedule

  • Physically capable of lifting and handling equipment and working outdoors in varying weather conditions

Working & Living Conditions

This role is based at a remote northern wilderness lodge and requires flexibility, adaptability, and strong teamwork. Team members live and work on-site in shared accommodations and operate in changing environmental conditions. Accommodation, meals, and transportation to and from the lodge are provided.
