Your Opportunity

Stantec's Dartmouth, NS office has an opening for a Senior Concrete Engineer who is seeking an organization with significant growth opportunities. This office maintains one of the largest and best equipped materials testing laboratories in Eastern Canada for physical and advanced tests of aggregates, cementing materials, and concrete. This laboratory serves a wide variety of clients including ready mixed concrete producers, aggregate producers, contractors, and suppliers of cement and supplementary cementing materials.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Review project specifications, and drawings to determine quality and testing requirements
  • Plan and coordinate field and laboratory testing of construction materials
  • Oversee QA/QC processes for concrete mix designs, construction, and field inspections.
  • Work on a variety of small to large materials projects
  • Manage multiple projects
  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of clients from owners, and developers, to aggregate and ready mixed concrete producers
  • Client management and business development
  • Preparation and review of technical reports
  • Provision of Quality Control and Quality Assurance services
  • Mentor junior staff

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Knowledge of relevant CSA and ASTM Standards related to concrete would be an asset
  • Experience with advanced concrete materials and testing methods
  • Strong knowledge of concrete properties and behavior
  • Strong client management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities.
  • Willingness to be a team player with a strong ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrate initiative and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong focus on Health and Safety.

Education and Experience

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.

Professional Engineer in good standing with Engineers Nova Scotia, or the ability to obtain professional designation.

Minimum of 8 years of experience in contracting/consulting.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
