Responsible for ensuring that the Airports operations teams are able to deliver the published schedule as designed by network planning for both the current schedule (>7 days and two seasons ahead). This manager will both support the holistic operations planning for the schedule and ensure that airports has provided appropriate input on schedule requirements and delivery as well as ensuring airports is positioned to deliver the final schedule in line with Operations and Airports operational objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Represent airports operations and engage in the integrated planning process that spans across all operations business units to ensure schedule operability over the current schedule and two seasons ahead (e.g. S24, W24 and S25).
- Own and lead ascertaining and then analyzing constraining factors for the Airports operational group and assessing the implications of these constraints to provide a single operability view for airports capacity, infrastructure, staffing and other relevant considerations. This includes developing, managing and updating the ongoing set of airports operational parameters and constraints that inform schedule design and operability. Evolving and improving the parameters and constraints as well as the analytical methods for assessing performance for airport gating, staffing, apron and other areas over time to better deliver operational and commercial results is a key long-term focus area.
- Responsible for gathering insights from airports stakeholders to provide timely insights on key planning assumptions, considerations and constraints as well as ensuring that other Operational or Network / Scheduling challenges or issues for resolution are communicated to relevant stakeholders in airports operations.
- Develop strong working knowledge of Air Canada's airports operations, including both internal and external stakeholders and processes. Build strong working relationships with Airports leaders / stakeholders at key hubs and outstations to facilitate better understanding, planning and problem solving.
- Support analysis and discussions of trade-offs that can be made and lead creative problem solving to influence ways of working in operations and then present a unified operations proposal to network planning team.
- Provide inputs from Airports operations to use insights from across operations, establish strategic plans to maximise schedule reliability, performance and productivity by proposing tweaks to network planning schedules.
- Support collaborative interactions within operations teams and lead discussions focused on Airports operations, ensuring internal trade-offs are made to optimise the requests ahead of schedule designs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP) an asset.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in airline operations, airline planning, integrated planning, network scheduling, or airport gate planning.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess trade-offs and recommend optimal solutions.
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure while balancing operational, financial, and safety considerations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex operational insights to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders (Maintenance, Network Planning, Airports, Operations) and external vendors.
- Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
