Position Summary
We are seeking a highly networked, technically sharp Director of Defence Business Development to lead our entry into the defence market. You will leverage our existing AS9100 and Controlled Goods status to secure qualified supplier status, win Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and establish long-term contract manufacturing agreements with Tier 1 defence primes and OEMs.
Key Responsibilities
Onboard our facility into major defence contractor supplier portals (e.g., General Dynamics, L3Harris, Raytheon, Thales, Leonardo). Identify and capture COTS-ruggedization opportunities for mobile command vehicles, naval systems, tactical communications, and UAV ground infrastructure. Navigate defence procurement frameworks, including the Canadian ITB (Industrial and Technological Benefits) offset program. Partner with engineering to deliver technical sales pitches focusing on our factory-overmolded, IP68/IP69K, and MIL-SPEC interconnect capabilities. Coordinate document-heavy RFP submissions, ensuring strict compliance with AS9102 First Article Inspections.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of proven business development experience specifically selling custom wire harnesses, cable assemblies, or electronic components to defence primes. Clear understanding of MIL-DTL-38999, MIL-STD-810, and IPC-WHMA-A-620 Class 3 standards. Active network of procurement managers, supply chain leads, and program directors within the defence ecosystem. Must be a citizen eligible to clear Canada’s Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and handle ITAR-regulated data.
