The Opportunity
The City of St. John’s Waste and Recycling Division is seeking motivated and environmentally conscious individuals to join our Litter Collection Crew and help keep our city clean throughout the summer.
Accountabilities
The Litter Collection Crew is made up of dedicated individuals responsible for helping keep our city clean. Focusing on public areas with high concentrations of litter, the crew will collect and properly dispose of debris found along roadsides and in open spaces.
The successful applicant will be required to participate in all training programs applicable to this position and other related work. Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills
- Dependable and self-motivated with the ability to work as part of a team
- Valid class 5 driver’s license would be considered an asset
Additional Requirements
- Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Criminal Record Screening Certificate (or equivalent) - dated not more than six months prior to hire
This position is classified as a safety sensitive position. The City of St. John’s has a comprehensive Drug and Alcohol Policy to ensure fitness for work and the completion of a satisfactory alcohol and drug test is a mandatory pre-employment requirement. Working Conditions
This position is required to work outside in all types of weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
This position requires physical stamina as the incumbent is required to perform repetitive tasks including twisting, bending, squatting and lifting in order to complete the duties.
Hours of Work
- Start and end date: May 11 – July 31, 2026
- Hours of work are Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- This position reports out of the Administration Building at the Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility (340 East White Hills Road)
