Summer Student - Communications
About the role
The Canadian Light Source Inc. (CLSI) is a national research facility located on the University of Saskatchewan campus. The CLS produces very bright light to explore the nature and structure of molecules, and serves national and international users from academia, industry, and government institutions.
The Canadian Light Source is currently recruiting for a Communication Summer Student. Reporting to the Communications Advisor, this position will be a full-time summer position starting on from May 2026 to August 2026.
Position Summary:

Handle requests for tours and schedule tour guides

Write promotional pieces for public dissemination, including new releases, stories, and social media posts
-
Produce videos featuring CLS scientists and users
-
Conduct inventory of promotional materials and merchandise and assist with procurement of new materials
-
Conduct Internet research and market analysis, as required
-
Conduct research projects to assess effectiveness of current practices to assist communications team with continuous improvement
-
Assist with specific communications projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
-
Upper year undergraduate student (Arts & Science); English and science double major an advantage

Fluent in Microsoft Office
-
Excellent Internet research skills
-
Previous experience in public relations and marketing activities is an asset

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
-
Ability to work with little supervision

Familiarity with a science-based work setting is an asset

Excellent writing skills
Remuneration: Hourly rate is dependent upon current year of study (1st Year: $17.75/hr., 2nd Year: 18.43/hr., 3rd Year: $19.46/hr., 4th Year: 20.48/hr., 5th year: $21.50/hr., Graduate Student: $22.65/hr.).
