At our Stratford Facility, we fabricate and assemble components for heavy truck, defense and off-road equipment companies. We feature fitting and welding, metal forming, saw cutting, painting, assembly departments and manufacture everything from small components to large structures, sheet metal to heavy plate.
Compensation Range: $27.41 up to $35.46 hourly
Position Summary:
The Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines to perform various tasks such as drilling, milling, and turning. This role requires a combination of technical skills, precision, and problem-solving abilities to ensure that products meet quality standards and specifications. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, experience in precision machining, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain equipment by completing PMs and calling for repair if required
- Troubleshoot and solve complex mechanical and operational issues
- Prepare and load/set up the raw material weldments or castings in the machine
- Program/Run CNC code.
- Use of various equipment/tools to create and repair tooling, including, but not limited to, grinders, welding equipment, machining equipment, overhead cranes
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Manufacture parts to print or technical drawings.
Required Skills & Expertise:
- Licensed Machinist Preferred
- In-depth understanding of fabrication
- 2-5 years of previous work experience in a custom machining shop
- Proficient in reading blueprints and sketches
- Experience with 3/4 axis CNC operation and programming
- Knowledge of various controls (i.e. Fanuc, HAAS, Tosnuc, Siemens)
- Ability to read and edit, as necessary, G+ mode programming.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and supervisors
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Equipment/ Tools/ Technology Used:
- Measuring tools and instruments, such as micrometers, verniers, callipers, height gauges or other specialized measuring instruments
- 3 and 4 -Axis CNC machines
- Lathe
Physical Demands:
- Manufacturing or workshop environment with exposure to loud noise and moving mechanical parts
- Personal Protective Equipment must be provided and must be worn
Hours of work and Travel:
Must be flexible to work either shift, depending on operational needs. Days 6:45 am -3:15 pm and afternoons 3:30 pm- 2:00 am.
