INTERNAL POSTING Position: Press Assistant I
Compensation: $24.91 CAD
Location: Toppan Flexible Packaging
1691 Matheson Blvd East, Mississauga, ON
Hours Of Work 12-hour rotating continental shifts. From time to time, overtime will be required. This shift is not fixed and may be subject to change. If a shift change is required, you will be notified in advance.
Reporting To Production Manager / Shift Supervisors
Purpose To operate and run your own shift productively.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
- Understand and properly apply all safety rules, regulations, and procedures, including the use of appropriate PPE and safe manufacturing practices.
- Maintain all company health and housekeeping standards.
- Set up and register new and complex jobs, including process work.
- Be proficient in the colour management system.
- Act as back-up operator when needed.
- Troubleshoot press registration system.
- Understand and operate the Meschon system.
- Assist in the operation and set-up of the auto wash and auto viscosity systems.
- Perform minor mechanical work on press.
- Identify print defects.
- Maintain wet good levels.
- Set MRT impressions.
- Web-up press for various applications.
- Adjust solvent mixes for better results.
- Operate the O.C.S.
- Adjust blade pressure and troubleshoot print issues.
- Accurately enter information into company recording system.
- Identify information for job kits/dockets and check proofs.
- Return all information to job kit/docket at the end of the shift.
- Reset chill system and oxidizer as needed.
- Ensure proper rewind for jobs.
- Understand and choose anilox rolls.
- Complete full layout for each start-up using layout guides.
- Load and unload unwind/rewind rolls.
- Ensure materials are printed or laminated to the correct surface.
- Understand colour sequences for surface and reverse print.
- Attend training seminars as directed.
- Mix and measure adhesive inks.
- Set up flexo and gravure stations.
- Assist others as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Participate in SPS and safety programs.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform basic computer functions.
- Completion of all required training.
- Ability to positively motivate others.
- Strong communication skills with co-workers and management.
