About the role

Overview:

Our client, a single-family investment office, is looking for an accounting professional to join their team. This role reports to the Controller.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the full accounting cycle for a variety of entities (corporations, trusts, foundations, and joint ventures)
  • Identify and assess financial reporting options and recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options
  • Manage annual external audits
  • Mentor and develop accounting staff as part of department succession planning
  • Assist in developing, updating, and compiling management reporting
  • Review periodic reporting packages from portfolio investment companies
  • Take lead in identifying and implementing on-going improvements to procedures, processes, and reporting including use of technology solutions
  • Responsible for investment performance measurement function including management of monthly/quarterly reporting cycle, control design and implementation, and oversight of process effectiveness and efficiency
  • Ad-hoc analysis and projects
  • Take ownership of delegated assignments and ensure that filing/reporting requirements and deadlines are met
  • Protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations

Qualifications:

  • CPA
  • University business degree
  • 6-10 years accounting experience
  • Experience in a management/supervisory role
  • Family Office or Investment/Holding company experience desirable
  • GAAP knowledge – ASPE and ASNPO
  • Good income tax knowledge
  • Microsoft Dynamics Business Central (or related) – Asset
  • Excel - Proficiency
  • Taxprep - Working knowledge
  • CCH Tagetik – Asset
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills both with internal and external stakeholders
