EWIS 3D Design Specialist
Location: Montreal, Quebec (Hybrid – 3 days per week onsite) Salary: $137,500 + Comprehensive Benefits Package Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Envisage Recruitment are partnering with a leading engineering organisation to recruit an experienced EWIS 3D Design Specialist for a permanent opportunity based in Montreal. This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex aerospace programmes, supporting the design and integration of Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems (EWIS). You will play a key role in developing robust harness installation solutions using CATIA V5 while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
The successful candidate will have strong experience in electrical harness installation design, system integration, and engineering change management, together with the ability to mentor junior engineers and maintain high design quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Design and route electrical wiring harnesses using CATIA V5 Electrical Harness Installation. Develop practical installation solutions while considering manufacturing, environmental, installation, and maintainability requirements. Perform harness packaging studies, clearance analysis, and clash detection/resolution. Produce and maintain accurate 3D models and associated engineering documentation. Support engineering change requests, product release activities, and configuration management processes. Participate in technical design reviews and provide technical support during customer discussions. Carry out design quality checks and ensure compliance with company and customer standards. Export harness XML data for downstream engineering activities. Create and manage PLM actions to support engineering changes. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
The Person
You will ideally have: Experience designing electrical harness installations within the aerospace industry. Strong proficiency in CATIA V5 Electrical Harness Installation. Experience with 3D harness routing and installation design. Knowledge of electrical system integration principles. Experience supporting engineering change and product release processes. Understanding of electrical wiring diagrams and schematics. Experience exporting harness XML data. Familiarity with PLM tools and engineering workflows. Excellent communication skills in English. French language skills would be advantageous but are not essential.
