Accounts Clerk / Payroll Clerk / Staff Dispatcher
About the role
School District 52 is seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as a Accounts Clerk / Payroll**** Clerk / Staff Dispatcher. This role involves a wide range of payroll and accounting responsibilities, as well as dispatching teachers-on-call and substitute childcare workers. This is a full-time, year round, continuing position, 37.5 hours per week effective immediately . The terms and conditions of the IUOE Collective Agreement shall apply. Rate of pay is pay band 6 ($29.42 for the first 8 months, then $31.94 per hour). Please note hours of work are 6:30am -2pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and verify payroll information for IUOE and teachers-on-call
- Maintain leave records (vacation, sick leave, etc.)
- Enter timesheet data and prepare payroll-related calculations
- Balance and reconcile payroll; ensure accurate deductions and remittances
- Prepare pay statements, cheques, and related reports
- Handle garnishees, Records of Employment, and stop payments
- Liaise with departments and respond to payroll/accounting inquiries
- Dispatch teachers-on-call and substitute childcare workers
- Update assignments and absences in the district database
- Produce teacher absence reports
- Perform other related duties as required
**Qualifications **
- Grade 12 education plus 2–3 years of experience in accounting or payroll
- Payroll Compliance Professional designation
- Strong discretion and confidentiality skills
- Computer literacy (minimum 40 wpm) and ability to use complex payroll systems
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Ability to interpret and apply collective agreement language
- Comfortable communicating with external agencies, medical practitioners, and parents
