Job Description
Reporting to the Production Program Manager, the Deputy Production Program Manager leads a production team in an assembly/test environment, exhibiting effective leadership and coaching qualities. The primary function is to ensure that the production team meets quality, schedule and budget objectives, with adherence to relevant policies and procedures.
You will guide and lead in a dynamic team environment, interacting with teams across the organization such as Planning, Manufacturing and Test Engineering, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Commercial Services, Program Management and end customers.
Planning: Actively participates in the development of front-end operations to ensure resources, skills, and a solid manufacturing plan is in place to ensure successful project completion. Execution: Takes a pro-active lead in ensuring quality, schedule, and costs are meeting the assigned and allocated budgets. Balancing resources and team priorities are key success requirements. Coaching: Provides effective training, mentoring and guidance to team members so as to build a strong and self-directed work team as well as simultaneously foster team morale. Communication: Interfaces with Material, Production, Manufacturing Operations Management, Engineering, and program personnel, to ensure issues/concerns are identified and requirements are clearly communicated. Continuous Improvement: Drives and fosters innovation within the team and takes a lead in working with others to ensure continuous improvement of department and company goals. Training: Determines, plans, and ensures personnel receive appropriate training to effectively perform required tasks. Other Related Duties: Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What You Need to Have to Succeed
Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related discipline. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. 5 + years of experience in an electronics production or manufacturing environment, preferably involving military electro-mechanical assemblies. Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate activities in a fast-paced production environment while balancing quality, schedule, and cost objectives. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across multiple functional teams. Proven ability to identify issues, solve problems, and drive results in support of production and program objectives. What Makes You Stand Out
Previous experience leading, supervising, or managing people in a manufacturing or production environment. Experience working within a unionized environment. Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, continuous improvement methodologies, and best practices. Experience using ERP/MRP systems (e.g., IFS, SAP, Oracle ) within a manufacturing environment. Familiarity with defence, aerospace, or other highly regulated industries. Working knowledge of AI applications and their use in improving business processes and operational efficiency. Professional certifications related to manufacturing, operations, project management, or continuous improvement (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, PMP) are considered an asset.
It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations. You must be eligible to work in Canada.

The hiring range for this position is $78,500 - $92,000
