As Senior Director, Global Functional Development, you will be a key leader on the Global Talent Management & People Strategy Team responsible for designing and operationalizing talent strategies, development programs, and capability planning to help our functions evolve and enhance their capabilities, performance, and effectiveness. Functions include, but aren’t limited to, Supply Chain, Merchandising, Design, and Retail.
This role is open to hybrid work, and will be frequently at our HQ offices in North Vancouver, with some international travel.

The People and Culture (P&C) team partners with all aspects of the business to drive the continuous evolution of people and business practices. We seek to drive greater alignment, to develop and foster rapport, to create trust and maintain partnership throughout the organization. As the Senior Director, Global Functional Development, you will lead the work to support the capability build within and evolution of our business functions, and will have an opportunity to lead a team of dedicated functional development experts. You will partner with key functional leaders to develop strategies, programs, and solutions that help the function – and Arc’teryx – to have the right skills and capabilities for today and the future. You will work closely in collaboration with P&C business partners and Talent Management.

Designing and leading functional development solutions that support the organization's strategic goals, culture, and values

Translating business needs into actionable talent development strategies and initiatives, prioritizing initiatives that drive measurable impact across the organization

Developing the organization’s approach to functional development, creating a comprehensive playbook that enables scalable, high-impact deployment across regions and functions -*Talent Development:*Designing and implementing development, upskilling, and reskilling programs that support capability building and are aligned to workforce and succession plans, shaping future talent needs at the functional and enterprise level -*Strategic capability building:*Identifying and developing strategies to build, borrow, or buy the critical skills needed to deliver on our business strategy, including establishing future-focused success profiles and enterprise-wide capability frameworks -*Performance measurement & maturity assessment:*In partnership with functional leaders and strategy team, defining KPIs and maturity models to assess functional effectiveness, benchmark performance, and identifying areas for development.

Partnering with regional functional and P&C teams to ensure effective deployment, adoption, and sustainment of programming.

Collaborating with BPs, leaders, and Talent Management leadership to develop workforce plans and org design and functional structure to support long-term evolution and scalability

Collaborating with Talent Acquisition to strategically pipeline external talent with critical capabilities, leveraging strategic partnerships

Working in partnership to lead the evolution of workforce planning practices to enhance enterprise agility and functional readiness

###Are you our next Director, Global Functional Development?
- You have a bachelor's degree in human resources, I/O Psychology, or a related field. Master's degree a plus.
- You have 10+ years of progressive experience in talent development, with at least 3 years in functional development.
- You have proven experience in developing and implementing successful talent development strategies and programs across the employee lifecycle.
- You have a deep understanding of talent development practices.
- You have an understanding of org design and workforce planning a plus
- You have excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
- You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and translate it into actionable insights.
- You have the ability to build strong relationships and partner effectively with all levels of the organization.
- You the ability to see the big picture, translate it into tactical plans, and operationalize with excellence.
- You have knowledge of HRIS and learning technologies a plus
- You have demonstrated ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.

$181,000 - $249,000 a year
The salary range for this role is CAD$181,000–CAD$249,000 (midpoint $226,000).
Most new team members join between the start and midpoint of the range, where you can contribute right away while continuing to grow your craft, your collaborations, and your impact at Arc’teryx. This range reflects market alignment and the scope of the role. Individual pay is determined by your skills, experience, and level of responsibility.
