L’Arche Tova Café is a social enterprise, open Tuesday to Saturday, that offers nutritious food to the general public while serving as a training facility and day program for individuals with developmental disabilities. Our mission is to help make known the gifts of each person, create meaningful work opportunities, and foster inclusion in the wider community as part of L’Arche Winnipeg Inc.
L’Arche Winnipeg Inc. is seeking an energetic and compassionate individual to join our team at L’Arche Tova Café. This role involves working alongside individuals with and without intellectual disabilities in a welcoming, inclusive, and community-focused environment.
The Café Server provides professional, courteous, and efficient customer service while supporting the mission and values of L’Arche Tova Café.
Location: 119 Regent Avenue West, Winnipeg, MB R2C0C1
**Major Duties and Responsibilities:**See Role Description for full details.
- Deliver professional, friendly, and efficient service to customers.
- Greet guests warmly and build rapport through conversation.
- Inform customers about daily specials and fresh baking for sale.
- Take food and beverage orders accurately and enter them into the POS system.
- Deliver orders to customers promptly and check back to ensure satisfaction.
- Offer refills (e.g., coffee) and address any concerns quickly and respectfully.
- Prepare bills and process payments in a timely manner.
- Clear tables, remove dishes and glasses, and bring them to the kitchen for cleaning.
- Keep dining areas clean and organized, including tables, chairs, and condiment stations.
- Refill garnishes and condiments as needed.
- Roll silverware and ensure adequate stock for daily service.
- Assist with daily clean-up and closing procedures.
- Maintain a positive attitude and assist co-workers, individuals with intellectual disabilities, and volunteers as needed.
- Follow health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous café, restaurant, or customer service experience is an asset but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude and commitment to excellent customer service.
- Respectful and comfortable working alongside individuals with developmental disabilities and volunteers.
- Flexibility to work during café hours, Tuesday to Saturday.
- Negative Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Clear Adult Abuse Registry Check

L’Arche Tova Café is currently open 5 days a week (Tuesday to Saturday) from 8 AM to 2 PM, now at 100% capacity for dine-in (proof of being fully vaccinated is required).
