About the role

Temporary (Durée déterminée)The Production Supervisor is responsible for managing production teams, overseeing manufacturing processes, and ensuring the efficient execution of operations from raw material reception to finished product distribution. Reporting to the Production Manager, the role plays a key part in delivering production targets in terms of quality, quantity, cost, and timelines, while fostering a strong culture of safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. As a change agent, the Production Supervisor contributes to the transformation of operations by promoting efficiency, accountability, and employee engagement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinate daily production activities from raw material reception through processing, packaging, aging (if applicable), and shipping, ensuring adherence to schedules and customer requirements. Deliver production plans in terms of volume, quality, and cost by effectively coordinating manufacturing processes and workforce activities. Ensure proper utilization and management of raw materials, ingredients, and cleaning products. Plan and manage labour requirements to meet operational needs. Supervise, coach, and develop production teams, fostering engagement, accountability, and collaboration. Ensure compliance with collective agreements and support positive labour relations. Maintain and enforce health and safety standards, including participation in major safety programs (lockout/tagout, machine safety, confined spaces, WHMIS, etc.). Ensure compliance with quality, food safety, and sanitation requirements (e.g., SQF, HACCP, GMP). Oversee sanitation activities and ensure proper maintenance of equipment cleanliness. Participate in environmental program compliance and sustainable practices. Monitor and communicate key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive performance improvement. Initiate, support, and lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing processes, increasing efficiency, and reducing waste. Participate in plant committees and contribute to achieving strategic objectives. Foster a strong culture of operational performance and continuous improvement aligned with organizational values.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

Supervisory Responsibilities Responsible for employee relations including work direction of employees, hiring, training, performance reviews, administering policies and procedures, disciplinary action, and compensation recommendations. Directs implementation of departmental objectives, goals and policies. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures and guidelines. Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices.

Safety Protocol

Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures. Correct or report any observed safety hazards. Support safety policies and programs. Qualifications

Education Required: College diploma or bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Food Processing, or a related field required. Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

Experience Required

Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment required. Experience in the food or dairy industry is an asset. Experience in a unionized environment is an asset.

Certification/Licensure Required

None Skills Required: Strong leadership and team management skills. Ability to drive change and lead continuous improvement initiatives. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and operational efficiency. Knowledge of health and safety, food safety (HACCP, SQF), and quality standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools; knowledge of systems such as Kronos or Workday is an asset. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
