The Director of People and Culture is a critical role responsible for overall accountability and management for the people management systems and people processes of the organization. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that foster an inclusive, equitable and high performing workplace that involves overseeing all aspects of employee engagement, talent management, and organizational development.As an integral member of the senior leadership team, the Director provides leadership and technical expertise on an on-going basis for various initiatives while working in collaboration with other leaders, managers, staff, and community partners.
The Director of People and Culture will lead, design, plan and develop the human resource infrastructure and evaluate human resource-related initiatives that support the organization’s goals. The Director will advise and manage organizational risk related to human resources and will bring an organizational, employee, and cultural lens to decision making. Leading the Human Resources team, the Director will work closely with management and employees to create a positive, progressive, productive, and engaging workplace. Initiatives will foster a culture of client-focus, professionalism, learning, and development that is reflective of the Centre’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior Human Resource leadership role, in a generalist capacity, preferably in a fast-paced, high-growth non-profit organization.
- Experience managing and advising on complex HR situations.
- Experience developing and implementing organizational development strategies, programs and initiatives that align with the overall organizational strategy, culture and best outcomes.
- Experience advising senior management in a strategic capacity.
- Demonstrated ability to manage core human resource processes.
- Excellent English skills, spoken and written essential; French and other languages an asset

- Strong and extensive knowledge of up-to-date human resources practices, trends, and legislation.
- Sound judgement and decision-making skills grounded in advanced personal and professional ethics and integrity.
- Experience working with underrepresented groups, such as women, people of colour, 2SLGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, and other equity deserving communities, and a commitment to ensuring that their voices are heard and valued within the organization.
- Understands, appreciates, and champions human rights, anti-racism, anti-oppression and intersectionality.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability at a strategic and operational level.
- Effective collaboration and facilitation skills.
- Leads by example and sets standards for professional behaviour.
- Focus on personal and professional continuous improvement.
- Actively holds self-accountable for results and behaviours.
- Demonstrated commitment to work under pressure, ability to prioritize, organize and manage multiple projects and demands, and ability to be flexible to achieve organizational goals.
- Ensures the consistency in the day-to-day functioning of the department: recruitment, onboarding/ offboarding, and up-to-date policies and procedures.
- Ability and willingness to fill in the gaps and do the work when necessary.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
PERSONAL SUITABILITY:
- Self-aware and a resourceful person equipped with the ability to deal with a wide range of issues and tasks proactively and simultaneously, with a calm demeanor and a person centric approach
- Strong ability to lead, encourage and enable change

SALARY: $105,924 - $120,356 annual salary, competitive benefits package including paid leaves (4 weeks annual leave, 3 weeks sick leave, 1 week special leave), health benefits, and HOOPP pension.

We serve the constituency of South-East Ottawa, and particularly try to meet the needs of folks with limited access to health and social supports, including newcomers to Canada. Most of our services are free and many of our programs are operated both at our main location (1355 Bank St.) and out in the community. Our second site is EarlyON which serves families in the Heatherington-Fairlea community and our third site is at the Hunt Club-Riverside Community Centre. Programs include drop-ins for breastfeeding, exercises for seniors and everything in between. Check us out at www.seochc.on.ca
