Junior Electrical CAD Designer

CANDU Energy Inc./ AtkinsRéalis Nuclear Inc. is actively seeking a qualified Junior Electrical CAD Designer to support engineering roles for nuclear projects in major areas, such as new builds in the province of Ontario, international new builds, refurbishment, and continuous plant operation support modifications for nuclear power plants.
This role will be based in Mississauga, ON.
Your role within the team:
This position requires working on fast-paced technically complex projects in the nuclear industry. Typical duties and essential functions will include but not be limited to the preparation, design, modification, coordination, and/or review of the following:
- Apply your working technical knowledge of 2D drawings, CAD symbols and terms to AutoCAD drawings for the electrical engineering discipline.
- Create Change Paper AutoCAD electrical drawings. Change Paper training will be provided if necessary.
- Revise existing 2D drawings/3D models (relative to the discipline) from verbal or written instructions, and/or marked-up drawings requested by more senior design and engineering staff.
- Prepare drawings/3D models (relative to the discipline) of minimal complexity.
- Continue to learn the fundamentals of CAD techniques through job experience, coaching and training to reach a higher level of competency.
- Ability to learn, retain and apply company nuclear specific CAD procedures, manuals and operating instructions.
- Ensure CAD file configuration management and storage are maintained as per company procedures.
- Work towards producing 2D drawings independently as learning progresses.
- Complete and maintain all necessary nuclear training requirements.
- Ability to communicate well using English.

- Ability to work in a team environment to achieve project goals on time and on budget.

The ideal candidate:
- 2-4 years of experience in design and drafting.
- College diploma in electrical design and drafting. Some CAD electrical drafting experience is an asset.
- Working knowledge in AutoCAD software.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Raster Design and Revit an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with colleagues in a team environment as well as independently.
