Group Division:
For more than 45 years, Arrow Off Road Guelph division has been a supplier of choice for OEM customers in the Material Handling, Rail, Construction, Forestry, Agriculture, Mining, and Defense industries. With operations in both Canada and China, our focus is on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and the environment. Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop staff within their department.
- Mentor, coach, counsel, train, and lead all assigned shift personnel to foster a safe, organized, productive, collaborative work environment.
- Responsible for all quality activities in a build-to-print CNC machining, welding, and fabrication environment.
- Participate and help to drive corrective and preventative activities because of internal or external concerns to “error-proof” future production runs whenever possible.
- Evaluate and recommend process improvements to increase operational efficiencies by conducting, on an ongoing basis, analyses of Quality Control and production data to ensure that all products and services attain or exceed customer specifications.
- Participate as required with APQP and PPAP review and acceptance of supplied product plus submission of OEM customer PPAP packages.
- Participate in all shop floor calls for support when production is having an issue with tooling, process, materials, and inspection to contribute to a team driven expeditious solution.
- Manage the workflow and prioritize available CMM time to ensure production first off demands and PPAP/ISIR demands are prioritized in case of conflict.
- Support various QA data systems to make information accessible to measure department performance.
- Manage department shift schedules and overtime requirements to continually support production.
- Directly and physically support the department in maintaining the various staging area’s out front of the QA department.
- Continually monitor and push within QA the final sign-off and approval of all parts that have been reworked.
- Other duties as required within the general scope of a QA department.
Educational Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Quality or related field preferred
Required Skills & Expertise:
- 5 + years of Quality Supervision experience working in a low-volume, high-mix CNC manufacturing environment.
- Advanced GD&T and blueprint reading training with demonstrated application use and understanding
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements
- Working knowledge of CMM operation with PC–DMIS and QUARTIS software, and a strong ability to read, interpret reports, and guide correction adjustments.
- Strong working knowledge of CNC machining in both turning and milling, and use of all precision measuring equipment, as is typical with precision machining.
- Strong troubleshooting skills to be able to understand, evaluate probable causes, and drive permanent corrective actions to prevent reoccurrences.
- Previously demonstrated skills in onboarding training with new employees regarding machining, tooling, as applicable, as well as gauge selection, use, and mastering.
- Flexible, service-oriented, and hands-on management professional who can successfully direct, motivate, and train staff.
- Strong CNC machine understanding in programming and execution to be able to understand the impacts and potential causes of nonconformances to drive the corrective action process.
- Strong work ethic and a self-starter, able to see what needs to be done and personally lead by example to execute and/or delegate.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, coaching, mentoring, and organizational skills.
- Ability to make critical decisions to accomplish production goals.
- Must be organised and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, juggling multiple tasks and projects.
- Ability to empower staff and to be patient and supportive through the learning curve.
- Client-driven – understands deadlines, works with internal and external customers to execute on time.
- Ability to create and execute project plans through to completion.
- Organized and meticulous with a quality and process mindset to spot variability.
- Strong work ethic and initiative - an independent initiative-taker.
