Housekeeping & Maintenance Supervisor
Canterbury Gardens Retirement Residence – Peterborough, ON
Canterbury Gardens Retirement Residence is seeking an experienced and motivated Housekeeping & Maintenance Supervisor to join our team. In this role, you will oversee and coordinate all housekeeping, laundry, and facility maintenance services, ensuring our residents enjoy a safe, clean, and comfortable living environment.
As a leader within our residence, you will guide a dedicated team, work closely with contractors and vendors, and ensure all services meet or exceed resident expectations, company standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and supervise housekeeping and laundry operations to support resident needs and meet all compliance standards.
- Oversee maintenance operations in collaboration with AON Maintenance, contractors, and suppliers.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and manage performance for Housekeeping & Maintenance staff, including payroll processing.
- Monitor departmental budgets, inventory, and purchasing for cost-effective operations.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits, documenting results and implementing improvements.
- Support infection control, health and safety programs, emergency preparedness, and WSIB claims management.
- Respond to urgent or after-hours maintenance and facility issues as required.
- Build positive working relationships across departments to enhance resident satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field preferred.
- Knowledge of HVAC, building systems, electrical, and fire/life safety systems is an asset.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a retirement or long-term care setting.
- Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with technology.
