About the role
Barjac Construction is looking for a Construction foreman for a commercial general contracting project located in the city of Calgary. In this role you will help plan, organize and direct certain aspects of the project in order to meet budget, quality, schedule and safety objectives. Our projects have a fast paced atmosphere which require a hands on diligent site foreman. A successful candidate must have a strong ability to coordinate multiple shop drawings to achieve a high level of finishing.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage and direct all in-field construction activities.
- Monitor and rectify any quality of work or workmanship issues.
- Working with own forces and sub-trades as required.
- Supervise, direct and mentor field personnel.
- Hold and chair weekly sub-trade meetings.
- Ensure complete and accurate field administration: time keeping, daily reports, change orders.
- Interpret drawings and communicate changes or conflicts directly with head office, architect and consultants as directed.
- Ensure site changes are understood and coordinated with sub-trades.
- Be accountable for schedule and budget.
- Work within the safety parameters as outlined in the company safety manual as well as interpret site conditions as they relate to OH&S.
Experience:
- Must have a minimum of 5 years experience of general contracting working as as foreman on projects ranging from $5 million to $15 million.
- Ability to use an iPad to access our project management systems.
- Ability to organize necessary resources, including personnel.
- Ability to identify and resolve design conflicts.
- Ability to coordinate and direct sub-trades to achieve tight deadlines.
Preference will be given to ticketed carpenters with project management experience.
