Regional Director, Operations
We are recruiting a Regional Director, Operations to support the Prairies Region. This role will be based out of Calgary.
The Regional Director, Prairies Region provides strategic and operational leadership across all airport screening operations within the region. This role is accountable for safety, compliance, performance, financial results, and stakeholder relationships. The Regional Director leads Directors, Operations, ensures alignment with national objectives, and drives continuous improvement across all bases.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead and develop Directors, Operations to deliver high-performing, compliant, and customer-focused screening operations.
- Translate corporate strategy into regional execution plans and measurable outcomes.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure all screening operations meet or exceed regulatory, contractual, and company standards.
- Monitor regional KPIs, including performance, compliance, staffing, customer satisfaction, and financial metrics.
- Identify operational risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure full compliance with CATSA/TC standards, security programs, and company policies.
- Lead response and corrective action plans for audits, inspections, incidents, and performance gaps.
- Promote a strong safety and security culture across all sites.
Financial & Resource Management
- Oversee regional budgets, cost controls, and financial performance.
- Optimize staffing models, scheduling, and resource allocation across all bases.
- Support contract renewals, growth opportunities, and business development initiatives.
Stakeholder Relations
- Act as the senior regional representative with airport authorities, regulators, clients, and internal partners.
- Build strong relationships to support operational success and service excellence.
- Lead regional responses to client concerns, escalations, and performance reviews.
People & Culture
- Drive talent development, succession planning, and leadership capability within the region.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Ensure consistent application of labor relations practices and collective agreements.
Requirements
- 7+ years of management experience, ideally managing a large workforce
- Diploma or Degree in a related field (i.e. Criminology, Business) isa strong asset
- Experience working in a heavily regulated environment and/or familiarity with the Aviation industry is a strong asset
- Previous experience managing a unionized workforce
- Proven leadership, management and mentorship excellence
- Expert communication skills with the ability to lead and navigate difficult conversations
- Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze data and make sound strategic decisions
- Flexibility to support dynamic and high stakes 24/7 environment
- Ability to travel 20-50% (approx.). Travel need is based on operational requirements
- Clean criminal background (no unpardoned convictions)
- Able to obtain a Transportation Security Clearance and Secret Clearance
