The challenges that await you
The incumbent works with the general management by coordinating and supporting the activities of the advisory committees within their mandates assigned by the executive committee. They are therefore responsible for coordinating and overseeing the execution of the mandates of the Youth, Intercultural Relations, Seniors, and Laval Women’s Advisory Committees. They are also involved in planning, developing, and implementing the action plans of the advisory committees while supporting their full operation.
The ideal profile for us
- Hold a bachelor's degree in law, social sciences, political science, or another relevant field;
- Have six (6) years of relevant work experience, particularly in establishing initiatives, programs, or activities aimed at fostering citizen participation;
- Experience in coordinating and supporting research and reflection processes around social issues and various municipal policies leading to the establishment of opinions and the formulation of recommendations to decision-makers;
- Coordination of external resources and budget monitoring;
- Knowledge of issues related to social development, particularly related to immigration, ethnocultural diversity, intercultural relations, youth, seniors, women, and gender equality;
- Experience in writing accountability reports;
- Experience in supervising groups of volunteers or citizens;
- Fluency in French, both written and spoken;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
- Knowledge of practices related to citizen mobilization and community development;
- Knowledge of how a municipal organization operates is an asset;
- Knowledge of issues related to the City of Laval is an asset;
- Be available in the evenings and on weekends for meetings with advisory committee members and municipal bodies, as needed.
