Position Title: Business Technology Specialist

Reports To: Director, Operations and Digital Experience

Department: Group Claims Enablement

Term: Permanent Full-Time

Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

As a member of the Group Enablement team, this role drives innovation and operational efficiency by architecting and delivering advanced solutions using Microsoft Power Platform (PowerApps, PowerAutomate, PowerBI, PowerPages), Excel, VBA, and Copilot agents. The specialist will proactively identify business challenges, design creative solutions, and lead the development and deployment of intelligent automation and analytics tools. This role requires a forward-thinking mindset, leveraging the latest in low-code/no-code and AI technologies to transform business processes and deliver measurable value.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of advanced Power Platform solutions, including PowerApps, PowerAutomate flows, PowerBI dashboards, PowerPages portals, and Copilot agents.
  • Manage project delivery using Agile methodologies, ensuring rapid prototyping, iterative development, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with business sponsors to define requirements, set expectations, and deliver solutions that exceed business objectives.
  • Champion automation and digital transformation initiatives, identifying opportunities to replace manual processes with intelligent, scalable solutions.
  • Provide expert-level support for existing applications, while continuously seeking opportunities to enhance functionality and user experience.
  • Ensure robust testing, documentation, and change management practices are followed, maintaining operational risk controls and compliance.
  • Proactively pursue continuous learning and professional development to stay current with emerging technologies, including advancements in AI, Copilot, and new features within the Microsoft Power Platform suite.
  • Actively share expertise and best practices with team members, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages skill development and innovation
  • Provide technical support to manage data manipulation of inbound claim takeover history files that are received in various file formats

What you will bring:

  • Demonstrated expertise in developing complex solutions with Excel, VBA, PowerApps, PowerBI, PowerAutomate, and Copilot agent creation.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with MS Office applications, including visual basic programming
  • Experience integrating AI-driven automation and conversational agents (Copilot) into business workflows.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, managing time effectively to meet deadlines
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills to quickly understand needs, simplify the complex, and identify right-sized solutions
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance and testing protocols.
  • Effective communicator, able to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences and produce clear, actionable documentation.
  • Proven track record as an out-of-the-box problem solver, able to conceptualize and deliver innovative solutions to unique business challenges.
  • Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating with business analysts, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams
  • Experience as a Business Analyst is an asset
  • Computer Science degree or equivalent education is an asset
