The base salary will be $70,560 - $100,680 per annum. Starting salary will be aligned with the successful candidate’s experience, skills, and demonstrated qualifications.

The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry provides outstanding education within a research intensive, distributed learning environment where tomorrow's physicians, dentists, health researchers and scholars learn to be socially responsible leaders in the advancement of human health. The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry is the largest faculty on the Western University campus and employs over 2,000 part-time and full-time faculty and over 1,500 staff.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) develops and provides accredited professional development learning activities for faculty, graduate students and postdoctoral scholars, as well as continuing medical education programs for practicing physicians and allied health professionals in South Western Ontario and nation-wide. CPD supports programs and departments in the assessment of educational needs, and in the design, development, and accreditation of educational programs to meet identified educational gaps.
Responsibilities
The Educational Developer will be responsible for leading the design, development, and maintenance of curriculum and assessment materials for learners and faculty through the continuum, ensuring seamless integration with the curriculum and objectives of the various program in Medical Education and through Schulich. The role is responsible for oversight of curriculum delivery systems, ensuring that course materials support student and faculty centred learning and integrate seamlessly with different learning environment. The role will provide guidance and expertise for programs through all stages of the learning continuum, including curriculum planning, assessment support, and faculty and learner training, ensuring alignment with regulatory college mandates (i.e., RCPSC, CFPC, CACMS). Working with various leaders and programs, the Educational Developer will actively participate in the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of innovative approaches to curriculum design and delivery.
Qualifications
Education:
- Master’s Degree in Education, Educational Technology, Curriculum Development, Instructional Design, or other relevant discipline
- PhD degree in educational technology, curriculum development, education, instructional design, or a related field or field experience is preferred
- ISW Facilitator Certificate would be an asset
Experience:
- 4 years experience designing online and traditional classroom-based educational initiatives for adults in a workplace, college/university, healthcare related association, agency, or freelance setting
- Experience researching and creating technology-enabled course development and teaching resources across a range of teaching modalities
- Previous experience facilitating related educational development opportunities
- 2 years experience working within a medical education environment is preferred
- 2 years experience designing and mapping curriculum within a post-secondary institution would be an asset
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of instructional design methods and educational technologies to deliver instructional programs and courses
- In-depth knowledge of curriculum and assessment design and implementation
- Knowledge of current theories and practices in Adult Education
- Knowledge of Canadian residency program accreditation standards
- Strong facilitation skills and influential interpersonal skills that build positive and strong relationships at all levels of the organization
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and confidence dealing with all levels of an organization
- Ability and willingness to research, evaluate and advise on the viability of new educational technologies and innovations
- Ability to innovate, generate and implement ideas that are focused on improving the quality of learning
- Ability to work with a variety of faculty members, subjects, and teaching styles
- Ability to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of courses based on best practices and evaluations from students and instructors
- Openness to recognize when change is necessary, and to develop, implement and lead effective change management strategies
- Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards and equity, diversity, and inclusion best practices
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
- Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours and travel on occasion
- Self-driven, independent thinker who is highly motivated and possesses an intrinsic passion for quality
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage activities effectively
- Ability to process information with high levels of accuracy
- Professional manner, tact, diplomacy, and discretion in dealing with various stakeholders and colleagues, including senior management
- Ability to effectively present information, and conduct training sessions and workshops
- Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, key business partners and external agencies
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to growth and change
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office and software and applications related to e- learning and instructional design (such as Elentra, OWL, Camtasia, Captivate, Adobe Photoshop, Articulate 360, Cascade Content Management System)
