Join Our Team as a CNC Precision Tool Grinder at Johnson Electric!
Location: Waterloo, ON (onsite)
Schedule: Days, Afternoons, Nights, or Continental Shifts
Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It:
As our next CNC Precision Tool Grinder, you will be responsible for setting up and operating 5-axis CNC grinding machines to sharpen and recondition carbide end mills and drills. You’ll perform frequent changeovers for custom orders and ensure all work meets tight tolerance specifications in a safe and efficient manner.

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Set up and operate CNC grinding machines with precision
- Perform frequent changeovers for small quantity custom orders
- Read and interpret blueprints and production sheets
- Use inspection tools and techniques to meet tight tolerances
- Enter programs into CNC machines and make adjustments as needed
- Maintain and troubleshoot CNC grinding equipment
- Perform quality checks and simple inspections
- Clean and organize work area and tools
- Understand and apply GD&T and engineering drawings
- Follow WHMIS and all health & safety policies
- Support continuous improvement and 5S initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Post-secondary education in a related field (asset, not required)
- Strong math skills, including basic trigonometry
- Experience with CNC machine operation and setups
- Ability to read process sheets and follow traceability procedures
- Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
- Strong attention to detail and quality orientation
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Proficient in English (spoken and written)
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Indoor manufacturing environment with variable temperatures and noise
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching, and bending
- Lifting up to 50 lbs (assistance available if needed)
- Ability to work overtime as required
- Fast-paced production setting
