Organizational Information
Purpose of your Position - Non Union
The Financial Reporting Supervisor is responsible for the direction, coordination and preparation of the corporate financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders. Duties include internal and external financial reporting, including annual statutory reporting and corresponding audit, developing managing financial models, benchmarking and analysis. This position will support strategic informed decision making through the assessment, development and implementation of timely financial reporting.

Internal and external financial reporting
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
- Develop, design and implement regular standardized financial reports for Council, ensuring alignment across Financial Services
- Effectively present technical accounting information to stakeholders with varying degrees of technical knowledge.
- Recommend and implement improvements to data processing, data management processes, and financial reporting systems, while overseeing system maintenance and internal controls
Statutory financial reporting
- Support the preparation of the financial statements, schedules, and statistics in accordance with statutes, Ministry requirements and Public Sector Accounting Board recommendations.
- Liaise with financial statement Auditors and facilitate the annual audit process.
- Review and present Consolidated Financial Statements and supporting statements and variance reports to the Audit Committee and Council.
- Coordinate the completion of the Local Government Data Entry Financial Statements and the Provincial Ministry as well as the City’s Annual Report to Council.
Financial modeling
- Collaborate with branches internal and external to the Financial Services division in the design and implementation of financial data to support benchmarking.
- Support Financial Services branches in the collection and presentation of financial data for activities related to budgeting, capital and program delivery.
- Liaise and support the Project Management branch as and when needed.
Manage budget:
- Operating budget: $500,000 Responsibility: Primary

Credentials - Union
Knowledge - Non Union
Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience. In depth knowledge of PSAB, GAAP, CaseWare software and Unit4 ERP systems. A minimum of five (5) years in local government finance. Experience in public accounting is considered an asset. Familiarity with the Community Charter/Local Government Act, Provincial Ministry reporting requirements and practices as well as knowledge of, Municipal Benchmarking and familiarity with PC based software (Excel, Word). Leadership, supervisory and management training.

The annual salary for this position ranges from $106,000 to $123,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Most candidates can expect to start in the lower to mid-range of this scale, with opportunities for salary growth based on performance and tenure.
