POSITION SUMMARY
The Retail Site Lead is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Silver Maple Gift Shop with the goal of providing a stable and sustainable shopping experience for patients, residents, clients, staff and visitors, while maximizing sales and profits.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College Certificate/Diploma or Equivalent (2-3 years duration) Retail Management
  • Relevant Job Experience in sector
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Experience managing teams in a retail setting
  • Experience with POS systems
  • Creativity and merchandising experience
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a retail team
  • Individual who possesses a supportive attitude towards patients, residents and visitors to the Health Centre
  • Experience working with volunteers an asset

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for maintaining the appropriate inventory levels needed to achieve financial goals
  • Ensure minimal losses by consistently monitoring inventory and effective execution of processes
  • Places seasonal, weekly orders and maintains relationships with suppliers
  • Contributes to product sourcing and buying process, attends trade shows as required
  • Ensures shipments are received accurately with timely follow up of shortages, damages and credit memos
  • Delegate and coach volunteers in restocking, merchandising and maintaining displays
  • Prepares bank deposits, maintain/complete financial reporting spreadsheets
  • Prepares invoices for the accounts payable
  • Participates in the planning and conducting of the physical year end inventory
  • Consistently remerchandising, refreshing store to drive sales
  • Evaluate the needs of the business, respond appropriately
  • Ensures the store is clean, well-organized, accessible and that cleaning, health & safety and maintenance issues are dealt with promptly
  • Ensure all food safety requirements are followed and where possible have food handling certification
  • Train volunteers on food safety protocols, maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment, assisting with sanitizing equipment
  • Accurate reporting, record-keeping for audits, maintaining safety logs
  • Manage and work collaboratively with volunteers to achieve operational goals
  • Ensure that all new volunteers are oriented and trained in all aspects of their job/roles and that they uphold SJHCG Service and CARE standards
  • Role model excellent customer service
  • Provide ongoing feedback on performance/behaviors in a timely manner
  • Address problems and issues promptly providing necessary information/documentation both verbally and in writing ensuring manager/director are aware
  • Motivate and support volunteers to promote teamwork
  • Communicate and reinforce the goals of the Silver Maple Gift Shop, sharing information and ideas
  • Work with Volunteer Services to coordinate volunteer schedules
  • Complete monthly safety inspections, ensures corrective measure and/or work orders are submitted as required
  • Maintain positive communication and relationships with staff, volunteers and all customers (patients, residents, visitors and staff)
  • Responsible for monitoring and follow-up of cash reporting, investigates discrepancies and take appropriate action as agreed upon with Manager/Director. Ensure cash is secure at all times.
  • Effectively manage uncertainty and changes with the ability to adapt to work effectively in varied situations and help motivate the team to follow
  • Supports departmental events/initiatives as required, performs cross-functional tasks as required
  • Contributes to a transparent culture of client and staff safety by adhering to and abiding by patient and staff safety policies and procedures set by SJHC.
  • Promotes an environment that encourages and supports change
